About visitor security registration
Panama is home to a large, active Jewish community with several synagogues and institutions. For everyone's safety, the community's security department — the DSI (Departamento de Seguridad Institucional) — asks every visitor to register and be approved before entering. This page lets you complete that security registration online: add everyone who is visiting, upload a passport for each person, share your travel dates and where you'll be staying, and tell us about your home community. The DSI security team then reviews your information and follows up with your interview or pre-approval details.
Frequently asked questions
What is the DSI and why do I need to register before visiting?
The DSI (Departamento de Seguridad Institucional) is the security department of Panama's Jewish community. For everyone's safety, visitors must register and be approved before entering community institutions such as synagogues. This form sends your details to the DSI security team so they can verify you and authorize your visit.
Who needs to register?
Anyone planning to visit a synagogue or other Jewish community institution in Panama — including visitors attending Shabbat services, a simcha, or a community event. Immediate family travelling together can be registered on a single form.
What do I need to complete the registration?
A clear photo of each visitor's passport, a recent photo of yourself, your travel dates, where you are staying in Panama, and details of your home synagogue and rabbi. Having a passport photo ready lets the form read and fill in most of your details automatically.
Can I register my whole family at once?
Yes. Immediate family in the same household can be registered together on one form. You can upload several passports at the first step and the form will add a visitor for each, then you just check the details.
When are the DSI security interviews?
Entry is authorized after a DSI security interview or written pre-approval. Interviews run Monday to Friday, 7:00-9:00 AM and 5:30-7:00 PM, and on Saturdays during tefilla. There are no interviews on Sundays or national holidays. Always bring your original passport.
Is my passport and personal information safe?
Your details are sent securely to the DSI security team and used only to verify your identity and your connection to the Jewish community so they can authorize your visit. The information is kept confidential and is not shared publicly. The automatic form-filling that reads your passport runs on your own device, but the passport photo you upload is submitted to the DSI as part of your registration, as the security review requires.
What happens after I submit, and how long does approval take?
The DSI security team reviews your information and follows up by email, usually within 1-2 business days, with your interview or pre-approval details. Remember to bring your original passport when you visit.
I booked my trip with Go Beyond — do I still need to register?
Yes. Security registration with the DSI is separate from your travel booking. If you booked your hotel with Go Beyond, the form can pre-fill your contact details, travel dates, and hotel to save you time.
