Soberania National Park

Tropical Rainforest 25 Minutes from the City

Soberania National Park is one of the most accessible tropical rainforests in the world. Located along the road to Gamboa, the park entrance is just 25 minutes from downtown Panama City. Despite its proximity to the capital, the park protects 22,000 hectares of dense tropical forest teeming with wildlife.

The most popular trail is the Plantation Road (Camino del Plantación), an easy paved path through the jungle where you'll commonly spot howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, sloths, toucans, and countless butterfly species. It's suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

For birders, the park is legendary — it contains Pipeline Road, the world-record birding trail with 500+ recorded species.

Pair It with Monkey Island

Soberania is right on the road to Gamboa, so it pairs naturally with our Monkey Island tour ($40/person add-on). Hike the jungle in the morning, boat to the monkeys in the afternoon.
